Step 5
Once you are in, you'll find 4 videos to watch.
The first video is a rap song about Martin Luther King. The other three videos are very short extracts of Martin Luther King's famous speech 'I have a dream'. These are three extracts of the original video filmed in 1963! that is the real Martin Luther King making history that day. Click on 'start', watch the videos and do the activities.
If you don’t understand a word, use a good dictionary and look up the words you don't know.
You can use http://www.wordreference.com/
Do the activities an many times as you need in order to get all the answers right.
Step 6
Use this photocopy below, the rap song, and also read this other link about MLK and this other link about Rosa Parks and, in groups, prepare your presentation using Drive Google Presentation. For your presentation you can use other material you find on-line, text, pictures and videos. You can also watch the film 'Selma' (you find it on Netflix, Itunes, Googleplay, Chili TV, and Rakuten TV). The film is a great way to fully understand how Martin Luther King fought his battle to secure equal voting rights for his people. It's also a very effective way to know the personality of this great leader better. If you decide to watch the film, do it together in groups (it's more fun and cheaper too!). I suggest you watch it in English with Italian subtitles for the first time, and then a second time in English with English subs.
When working on the presentation, remember that cooperation is very important, so use the comments feature to cooperate with your groupmates.
Don't forget that when you speak, pronunciation is very important, so listen as many times as you can all the material provided, and use https://ttsreader.com/ when you have your texts ready, so you can hear how an English person would read them.
Have fun!
